The Guest House

the guest house

I adore this poem...which was first introduced to me by Terry Pearson at the U of M's Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program.

What has violently swept into your house like a crowd of sorrows?
Or arrived as an unexpected joy?

Have you found it within yourself to welcome them all?
At least eventually? Like me?

I couldn’t see it before. But now I can.
I once was blind, but now I see.

It’s all a gift.

It is uncanny, or perhaps not, how you so often write the words on your blog as if you had me and my own life circumstances in mind. I am printing this poem and adding it to my collection of what I need to meditate upon.

    Thank you once again Rachel.

So, so glad. I just try to listen and then act on what feels right for the day. Isn’t this poem amazing?
Take care and thanks for writing so often. It really encourages me.
