Anything is possible. Stay open, forever, so open it hurts, and then open up some more, until the day you die, world without end, amen. – George Saunders
On the day of our dear friend Persis’ memorial service, December 27th, we were traveling from the Dominican Republic to Canada, so weren’t able to attend.
we had the opportunity to say a goodbye of sorts this summer,
a few months before she left this world for the next.
I created the little collaged image below for her daughters on that occasion.
To me, the quote sums up her limitless capacity to love and be loved,
after her physical being is no longer with us.
to remain wide open,
to connect, to care, to celebrate in community–
this innate depth she possessed–
continues to inspire me.
We miss you Persis,
yet you are still so very present.
Indeed, through this kind of gaping openness, anything is possible.
It reflects the divine,
far surpassing human limitations of time and space.
World without end.
